LIVING WALLS™ PROJECTS

See the Difference a Fully Formed Hedge Makes

A new or changing landscape can need privacy, structure and definition long before individual hedge plants could provide it.

These projects show Living Walls™ instant hedges arriving fully formed, being installed and becoming part of residential, commercial and public landscapes. Some results were photographed within days. Others show the same hedges months or years later.

Living Walls™ are supplied in one-metre lengths, ready to create a continuous hedge from the day they are installed. In every project below, the hedge arrived fully formed.

Twining Valley Nurseries supplied the Living Walls™ hedge lengths shown. Installation and the wider landscaping were completed by the customers and their project teams.

Residential Landscapes

FROM NEW BUILD TO ESTABLISHED LANDSCAPE

Living Walls™ hedge lengths arriving and being installed around a contemporary new build, followed by the completed frontage.

House complete. Landscape ready to catch up.

Fully formed Living Walls™ hedge lengths were installed around the frontage, giving the previously open landscape an immediate green boundary.

A GARDEN COMPLETED IN A DAY

A bare garden beside a new home and the same area one day later with ready lawn, landscaping and a fully formed hedge.

These photographs were taken one day apart. Ready lawn covered the bare ground, while a fully formed Living Walls™ hedge immediately gave the new garden height, privacy and structure.

LAYERED STRUCTURE FOR A CONTEMPORARY GARDEN

Living Walls™ hedge lengths during installation and the completed contemporary garden with layered hedges and white sculptures.

Living Walls™ hedges were installed at different heights to create layers of green structure around this contemporary garden. In the completed landscape, the hedges define the lawn, frame the sculptural pieces and give the open space a strong sense of form.

A CURVED HEDGE ACROSS AN OPEN LANDSCAPE

Installation of a curved Living Walls™ hedge across a rural lawn, followed by the completed green boundary.

The hedge arrived fully formed and was installed along the curve of the lawn. It creates a defined green boundary while keeping the surrounding rural views open.

A FINISHED BOUNDARY FOR A SHOWHOME

Living Walls™ hedge lengths being installed around a showhome and the established frontage 16 months later.

This showhome needed a defined, presentable frontage without waiting for individual plants to grow together.

The photographs show fully formed Living Walls™ hedge lengths arriving and being installed. The total landscaping project was completed within five days. The final photograph shown here was taken 16 months later.

FROM BUILDING SITE TO FINISHED FRONTAGE

Before and after views of a new home’s unfinished frontage and the same frontage five weeks later with a fully formed hedge.

These photographs were taken approximately five weeks apart. As the new home was completed and prepared for sale, a fully formed Living Walls™ hedge created an immediate green boundary and helped the street frontage feel complete.

A LAYERED ENTRANCE FROM THE START

Fully formed hedge lengths being moved and installed around a country property, with the completed entrance 13 months later.

Fully formed Living Walls™ hedge lengths were moved into position around the property. Even before installation was complete, the continuous green structure was already taking shape. The final photograph, taken 13 months later, shows the hedge established and maintained as part of the layered entrance garden.

Commercial and Public Landscapes

LIVING STRUCTURE AROUND A PUBLIC PLAYGROUND

Corokia × virgata ‘Frosted Chocolate’ hedges during installation at a Hamilton playground, with summer and five-year winter views showing their seasonal foliage colour.

Living Walls™ Corokia × virgata ‘Frosted Chocolate’ hedges were positioned throughout a Hamilton playground to define different spaces and help direct movement from the outset.

A summer photograph shows the completed playground in use. The variety naturally changes colour through the seasons, with greener summer foliage developing bronze-grey tones during the cooler months. The winter photographs, taken five years after installation, show the hedge continuing to provide strong structure around the play areas.

A follow-up view 12 years after installation shows the hedges still well formed and continuing to define the playground’s different activity areas.

LIVING SCREENING FOR A COMMERCIAL FRONTAGE

Tall Living Walls™ hedge lengths during installation in raised planters at a commercial property and the established hedge 16 months later.

The first photograph shows tall Living Walls™ hedge lengths being installed in a double row within the raised planters. The second, taken approximately 16 months later, shows the result: a deep, substantial green screen that softens the commercial frontage.

A follow-up view 13 years after installation shows the hedges continuing to form a strong green screen along the frontage.

A LIVING BOUNDARY FOR A MEMORIAL GARDEN

Living Walls™ hedge lengths delivered and installed beside the Trinity Cathedral columbarium, with the completed boundary five days later.

The first photographs show fully formed Living Walls™ hedge lengths arriving and being installed beside the Trinity Cathedral columbarium.

Photographed five days later, the completed hedge protects the columbarium, guides pedestrian movement and creates a defined green boundary without visually closing it off from the cathedral and surrounding public space.

A follow-up view 15 years after installation shows the hedge continuing to form a well-defined living boundary around the columbarium.
